Big Sur Area in August

« on: August 01 2007 23:08:00 »

I am looking at heading to the big sur area and was wondering how good the waves are in August.  I've checked it out a little and it looks like there is some pretty decent surf around Andrew Molera State Park???  Is in good there in August??

It's typically slow, but you might get a swell.  Best of luck, and watch out for the landlord.

Big sur is very very fun when it has a decent south swell and no winds.  The winds get pretty crazy and blow the place out.  Andrew Molera needs a huge south to work, so the chance aren't that great.  And the other places have a bad vibe and angry locals.  I may prefer the grey suited mammal instead of the jerks that slash tires and wreck havoc to your vehicle.  Try Santa Cruz or Monterey as a back up.  Where are ya arriving from? I surfed today and it was way small but at least I got in the water.
