a girl in need of a surf instructor for rhode island/ct area

« on: June 09 2005 20:06:00 »

Two years ago this summer i attempted to learn surfing myself which proved unsuccessfull. This year I want to try again and have recently purchased a 9 foot bic. I only need a patient instructor. i am more familiar and closer to  westerly rhode island. I have heard its not a great area to surf but ok for beginers. does anyone know where to find a good instructor?

ayeee I'm Sarah.. and im in the same boat as u...im determined to learn this summer SO bad. I'm from CT..but I'm gonna be staying in Charlestown RI for the summer. I've tried surfing in CA last year..and it was so much fun even tho i got nowhere near to standing up..it was still amazing. So once I get to RI (in a week) i wanna buy a used board and get goooing. I bet if you just chilled around the beaches alot you'll have no problem finding a local to help ya out.

I'm from Westerly. There are surfing classes that you must pay for in Narragansett every morning. I'm assuming both of you are young. You shouldnt have a hard time finding someone. Do you just want the basics?
Next day when the waves are up, go down and start small talking in Westerly. You will get a local to help you out.
Us locals are more than willing to help. Take care.

PS connecticut doesnt have waves, don't waste your time

I am an instructor! I have been teaching for a three years in florida. If you are still looking to learn call up warmwinds in narragansett and ask for me.
