new HIC board ques?

« on: May 19 2008 18:05:00 »

hey guys, i recently just bought a HIC board from someone who was moving and bought it from them really cheap, the question i have is that it is a 5'10 - 5'11 board and i am 5`11 170pds, i normally have surfed 6'4-6'5 boards but this price was so good i couldnt turn it down. i was wondering if you could tell me what benefits it will have and what problems i may encounter with it, i live and do most surfing in NJ. thanks

Depending on how thick the board is,it might be a bit hard to paddle[lack of flotation]Will probably show up as you wear more wetsuit>ie full suit vs. spring or no suit(summer). It will probably turn really great but might lose a bit on drive down the line. With a bit of time you will get used to it and it wont make much difference.Give it time.
