Beginner surf spots -California Coast

« on: April 15 2009 08:04:00 »

I am going on a camping roadtrip down the coast, leaving from Vancouver Island in early May.  We are going no farther than L.A (gotta visit disneyland!), and would like to stop along the way (and way back) to surf and see some great beaches.  We're all beginners and we are planning on camping the whole way, so any tips on places to camp would be great too!

Have a great trip--should be a lot of fun. Just did a SF to San Onofre trip myself--camping all the way.  Lot of great spots. Only heads-up is camping more than one night is now a hassle. now have to make 'reservations' thru reserve america nazis. also pfeifer and some other spots closed. though plenty of non park spots to camp if you look. just remember to be real carful with the fire. Cheers.
