I ve lived in Mexico for several years and am ready for a new place. I ve heard from people who were there years ago what a great place Vietnam is. Any suggestions as far as where to go on the coast, a place easy for someone not familiar with the language or the customs? (I m a longboarder btw)

From all I've heard, Da Nang, with its 20 mile long China Beach, is the most consistently surfable spot in Vietnam. Unlike Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi where there are loads of English speaking foreigners, Da Nang, while a large city, is pretty much Vietnamese. You can survive here without speaking Vietnamese, but it sure helps to make Vietnamese friends who can help you with tricky logistics. We're Americans who have lived here for 5 months, so it can be done.
