I thank you for your input Pokerface. But as I am going to be traveling to Samoa in the near future, I was wondering if anybody had any more detailed information about the camps and/or breaks on Samoa and how they were affected by the tsunami... ?

I live in American Samoa (just east of Samoa) and the tsunami has had an impact here. I heard Sa'moana (Upolu) and Aganoa (Savaii) are both taking on surfers. All other surf camps/resorts were wiped out and plan on being operational sometime between January and April. Please keep in mind this is a culture where respect is primary. I do not suggest surfing breaks where the village was destroyed. So many people died, lost everything, coping with minimal supplies, etc. Also, dunno 'bout W.Samoa, but here you also need to worry about what's on the reefs - cars, roofing, etc. The best advice is to contact the aforementioned surf resorts. Good luck - L

wow that's heavy! thanks Lauren... I will be stopping in W. Samoa w/ some buddies on our way back from NZ... can you think of anything we can bring from the mainland to benefit the locals and victims?
and I would really like to make it over to Savaii, does anyone know any good camps of facilities over there?
