I dont really like it when my local breaks get overcrowded with "foreigners", but i respect them and they have just as much of a right to be there as me.
I really hate local surfers who think they own the break - they can go f*** themselves.

I have great respect for those (like you) who appreciate their local spot, I have an utter disdain for those so called 'locals' who think they own the damn spot. The surf was not created by these locals nor the swell/wind they enjoy surfing in and I would bet my mortgage that they certainly didn't discover it, therefore they have absolutely no right acting the way they do. I also like to keep "secret reefs" I frequently surf as quiet as possible but if others rock up good on them for going searching as I did and stumbling across such gems. We don't need aggression between the surfers that inhabit the water we need aggression against the waves that inhabit the ocean.

the surf is something that has helped me through my parents divorcing, my mate dieing and alot of other shit. it makes me feel free and makes me want to surf more and more. when people start being aggressive in the lineup it totally ruins the purpose of surfing. i hate when people complain about learners at their local. they r learing and they want to be apart of our great pass time. surfing is a life style that is really laid back and mellow, not aggresive. so if you go to a break you have not surfed b4 respect the people who do surf it everyday but when people rock up to ur local respect them and let them get a few no matter on their level of surfing or if they r short boarders, long boarders, body boarders wave skiers or body surfers. peace in the water everyone and go surfing:)

so right Luke, the old saying is the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun, how true.
Remember:- Surfing is not a matter of life and death. It's more important than that.

If you put 2 dogs in a backyard they play all day. But if you put 20 dogs in a backyard they become territorial & fight.
This is the law of nature. We aint seen nothin yet. With the mass migration of seachangers moving to the coast everyday
all our locals spots (especially the ones 1 hour from a city)
will become totally overcrowded & aggressive. It doesn't matter if you are a 3 year local or a 20 year local, at the end of the day it is just about everyone fighting for there fair share of waves. SAD REALLY BUT TRUE !

if you don't like crowds all you have to do is go and find waves by yourself. or move too some where that doesn't have a huge surfing population. i live on the south oz coast and am happy to say we don't get too many blowin's, but i can understand that if your out surfing with just your mates then a huge crew roles up your not exactly going to be happy about not getting as may waves. i mean your not out there to hassel for waves, but having said that my local gets max 20 guys on it and if there are that many you go to another spot. As for learning surfer don't just paddle out at a spot if you see a few guys out getting waves, check out the waves first and make sure your up to it before you head out.
