Hey, im pretty new to surfing, and i've found a couple of decent spots on the avalon, but they are pretty sketchy (esp. for a beginner like me). I'm wondering if anyone has found anything in newfoundland thats easy access and not too dangerous for a beginner. Thanks.

i've heard of a few good breaks in newfoundland, their surf is very untapped. warm fronts come in winter, so the water temp. isn't too bad. a very thick wetsuit with hoodie, booties and gloves is a must.

I have surfed a couple of times, I don't own a board right now, but want to pick one up.  I also know a couple of people around St. John's who surf.  I'm really interested in getting into the sport a lot more and woul be into going for a rip whenever possible.  Give me a shout at 709-722-6411.

I'm heading to work in Corner Brook in two weeks, and will be spending most of my time there. Does anyone know the nearest breaks to there? On the map it looks like from Port Aux Basques to Burgeo might get some south swell. I'll also be working a little bit in Gander and Baie Vert. Anyone heard of anything near there? And if anyone doesn't mind taking along a fellow surfer for a session now and then, i would be forever grateful, and my lips would be sealed about any spots.

Ive seen some NICE pics of nfld in diferent mags. You guys have some points that make me jealous.  Do you guys have  spots close together or do you have to drive half a day to get from one good spot to another.
