Wow, I am not impressed with the patrons of this site so far, over one hundred people look at your post, yet I am the first one to actually reply. What a bunch of kooks. Anyway, you can easily rent any shape or size of board you want in Costa Rica and don't bother bringing a board. It is not worth the hassle. Good luck.

Thanks for that reply... I was wondering as well. Any places you recommend in Jaco?

Regarding places to stay in Jaco:
I spent three monthes in CR and when i go back I will skip Jaco and go straigh to Playa Hermosa a ten minutes cab ride south. Playa Hermosa is less touristy, less hookers, cleaner and most importantly better waves. However, the places to stay in Hermosa may be 2-5 dollars a night more expensive than Jaco, but in my opinion it is worth it. If you have your heart set on Jaco then I recommend Cabinas Chucks. Chuck is an American and quite the character. His place is a block away from the beach and the cabinas are pretty nice.

O.K...Best place in my opinion to stay in Playa Hermosa is Hotel Villa Hermosa. Walk down the street a few blocks to Las Olas and they will hook you up with a board rental for about $100/week or cheaper. That is the most convenient because you can return it for a different size without having to lug it in a car. You can also find board rentals for about $65/week for a shortboard in Jaco. That is if you don't mind lugging it in a cab or your car.
costa rica is off the hook!! Ask the locals in Hermosa for directions to "The Tree", or "pig farms" these are some of the better beach breaks in the area..

Nice! Thanks for the info on the board rentals folks! Was thinking of bringing 6.2 thruster but now i,m feeling i should just rent one and give the money to the costaa rican econmy rather than the airlines. Sounds like i can get what ever i want as far as a shortboard. Also i am only going to be on the coats for three days, so renting versus bringing a board helps eleviate some hassles on having a board the rest of the trip.
Have fun whoever is going!!!

We'll be staying in Jaco Beach over the Christmas week. Do you think it will be a problem finding a good longboard to rent during that time of year? Anything under $100 a week would be much cheaper than bringing our boards. Not to mention the hassle involved.
