RE: shark population in costa rica
« Reply #1 on: September 15 2004 10:09:00 »I live just north of Playas del Coco in Guancaste, Costa Rica. I have been a scuba instructor here and now my wife and I operate a surf live aboard. There are many white tip reef sharks here and north of here, Bull sharks. On an agression scale of 1 to 10 white tips are a 1. Bulls on the other hand are an 8. In all my time here I have spent time with both underwater. Niether have I experienced any agression nor have I heard of an attack. I take surfers north to Witches & Ollie's all the time and have not had an incident.

The locals went in almost everyday but they all said there were no sharks and never had something to do with them
