RE: Cabarete surf camp

I stayed there years ago: social, but lots and lots of mosquitos!

RE: Cabarete surf camp

Roger is right.

Lots of mosquito's bcause  it's right next to a lagoon / swamp / lake.

The accommodation varies, the bure style huts / bungalows are very very basic, the main building out of concrete in the back is  better.

1year i stayed at the Cabarete surf camp,  year later at Extreme Hotel on kite beach in Cabarete which was.......uuuuuhhhmmmm....... an Extreme Hotel, in the negative sense of the word......
Haven't decided where I am going to stay this year, still looking.

RE: Cabarete surf camp

The Extreme hotel Cabarete WAS a pretty cool place to stay 4 years ago, when I stopped by this year the place looked like it was about to be demolished.

I thought about staying at the surf camp 4 years ago, but changed last minute for Extreme, because it looked like a better location.
About the above comments  about mozzies at the surf camp: sooooooo true;
I went for  dinner there once   with a group  and all of us got  annihilated by mosquitoes,  the food was ok.
Never had a look at the accommodation .

RE: Cabarete surf camp

The Extreme was a nice place. We used to send people there in case we where fully occupied. We stopped doing that because the place lost his shine and quality.
Too bad, they had a good concept.

anyway. Check also www.surferdream.com or the features button on this site for more info about Cabarete and accommodation.

Sure you will like our little town :-)

RE: Cabarete surf camp

Both the Cabarete surf camp and the Extreme Hotel are very basic, don't expect too much as far as modern day comforts go.

Even though they are both pretty cheap, they are not that good value.
Stay in town in a decent hotel

RE: Cabarete surf camp

Ali's surf camp is not close to the beach, the accomodation is basic and the location is in a residential area a 15 minute walk to town, next to a lake with lots of mosquitos.

Have fun

RE: Cabarete surf camp

the cabarete surfcamp is actually less then 5 min from town, i stayed there at there special rate of 333 us for one week, including food, surfcourse and accomodation, i think no other place can beat that.

RE: Cabarete surf camp

5 minutes into town?
Yes.. but not walking, maybe with one of the sports cars that the owner of the camp has.
And yes it's cheap, but good value i didn't find it, the accommodation is relative to the price: Very basic

RE: Cabarete surf camp

Agreed.  Very basic.  Great food though!  I have a $40 surfing voucher that I am trying to sell for cash (I am leaving the country in a few weeks and dont have time to use it.)  If anyone could help me out and purchase it from me, I would be VERY thankful!!!
