You should go to SW france!
I will be in the area the whole of june before traveling north spain and portugal. Im saving beforehand and living cheap with my rucksack and board, there are loads of fairly cheap campsites to stay on and hostels.
If your there when i am would be cool to go for a surf as im travelling alone.
I cant help you with work but good luck and have a sick trip!

Thats cool, well id say base yourself around Biarritz, Hossegor would be good, really cheap flights to biarritz and i spose you could look for work before the busy season starts which would be sweet. Also you might be able to get a cheap rate on a holiday apartment as its would be early season in june time. Have you looked at other forums/threads? there are a few people looking for accomadation, might be worth contacting them to share etc

Just go to any place on the coast and ask the restaurants, hotels, bars if they need manpower.
Try to avoid the big cities like Lacanau where there is a lot of competition and the accomodation get to crazy prices during summer !
If you speak good french I think you won't have any problems as everyone's looking for a native english speaker.

Hey Louise! I'm seriously considering getting the fuck outta dodge and to a place with some sun too! I absolutely LOVE surfing but work is getting in the way so I want to base myself somewhere where I can get up, go for a surf and go to work(if I have to!) been thinking about france(have a bit of french from school) Love to just stay in one place, get to know some people, work on my surfing and chill out. If you need someone to share accommodation with, or maybe just a surf buddy I'd be interested. Let me know if you've figured anything out...

I'm a 21 y.o guy form spain also looking to share accomodation in Hossegor in the month of july. I'm trying to get a part-time job there as appartment prices are so high in july but the main idea is to surf... so I'm looking to share a flat not very far from the beach!
if anyone interested in sharing a flat, or has a room to rent or a job offer, email me!

guys, seriously... all of you get your assses into the bab region (biarritz, anglet, bayonne)
the weather is a bit unpredictable, but life's chilled out and awesome! nightlife's a nit slow at the mo, but it'll definitely pick up in summer i've been told (bayonne festival is supposed to be incredible in august) and it's so easy to cross the border into crazy ass spain!
ooh, and if you want a really easy job try advertising as an au pair on almondbury site, that's how me and my friend got here and, sure, kids can be tiring, but you don't have to worry about accomodation, food or anything and you get all day and weekends free to do whatever you like
get in touch please if you fancy teach us to surf before august! Lauren, 18, Scotland and Cora, 20, Ireland
