Intermediate level surf and good night life, Biarritz??

« on: April 16 2009 03:04:00 »

Hi,

Looking to head down to Biarritz area last week of May. Can anyone advise of a good area with surf and some good nightlife aswell? Also willing to look at other locations in France.

Many thanks
Andy.

hey hey... i'm living in biarritz at the moment. i'm not a surfer, but i reckon you're better in anglet where it's quieter rather than grand plage where the sea is teeming. or even capbreton actually! nightlife is prettty hard to find, but banging once you do. i'd advise bayonne for a cheaper night. also there's this awesome bus service takes you over the spanish border to a club called nuba (la-nuba.fr i think)
i would just find the cheapest accomodation in the region cos you can get around dead easy by bus, think it's about a tenner for a weeks pass!
yeah... hope that helps :D
and let me know if you fancy helping two girls learn to surf if you're young and brave enough!

hi chaps, was in anglet last summer, (aug) stayed in the youth hostel there so didnt go out to any other bars really because there was on there in the hostel with a good crowd, sometimes theres parties on the beach tho, i liked anglet, if you dont get onshore winds you should be satisfied with the waves, bayonnes  a nice town, worth an afternoon visit also, friends rented mopeds and drove up to hossegor and had a  great time, oh i also got the bus down to san sebastian for an afternoon as well, it has  a nice pretty beach

DIsaster! Am heading out to anglet for a surfing holiday with 2 other guys at the start of June and was planning on staying at le camping fontaine laborde after a great time there 2 years ago, but apparently it's closed! can anyone confirm this and recommend anywhere else to stay?! Also anyone else who is around at the time lets hook up!

no way!

i was gonna suggest la fontain laborde, had a great time there. real shame it closed.

i would go to anglet if i were you, its only a couple of km further north from biarritz so you can still go into town easily and the waves are better than the town beach.
further south theres guethary which seems to have a real nice vibe and a full on break.
to the north is hossegor but i havent surfed it yet (this summer baby!) but i think its a quieter town than biarritz.

i would go with anglet.
