Ghana-surf shops? sharks?« on: August 05 2004 18:08:00 »
hey, I'll be going down to Ghana to work in Accra for 6 months starting in September. I'd wrather not pack my board with me since I'll be stopping over in London on the way and would prefer not to lug it around. Does anyone know if there's any surf shops in Accra where I could pick up a quality board once I get there?
Otherwise I suppose I could ship my board ahead of me, although I've never tried this, if any one has done this do you have any advice?
Also, what's the shark situation like in Ghana, is it too warm for whites?

I live near the univ. so look me up when you get here if you want to try a couple of spots.
Been surfing on and off for 6 months here, theres a little bit of everything to choose from, but I think a longboard would be great here. Just a tip.
See ya soon,

No sharks they have eaten them all.
Wave is full and good for mals, plenty of room just stay away from the creek and river mouths, Wear earplugs to stop ear infections.

ghana has heaps of excellent surf shops, they're everywhere and they have everything an experienced traveller would ever need.
but there's lots of hungry sharks and gnarly crocs and surf is always flat and crowded, especially in the west.
so stay at home.
