Localism? Only if you're haole. Other than that there are some really good and sketchy spots out there. Most of them you have to walk over A'a or right over some wana waiting to sting you. You should check out some spots near banyans. If your haole though you might have a little stare down or told to beat it. Other than that there are some really cool guys out there. I've only surfed at banyans and near banyans.

Dude Ive read pretty much all your posts on this site, and I aint for minute doubting your ability coz out of most of these guys ( and gals ) on here you seem to know what your talking about.
But in this day and age for surfers white or black to get racists remarks screamed at them, I personally think is a joke. We're all in the water for the same thing, and thats the stoke of being out with your friends and catching waves. A friend of mine was out in Hawaii for a while and told me about the whole scene out there, and I think its a real shame as you live in absolute beautiful island surrounded by mainly good people but as usual like in any other part of the world we have people who like to abuse you due to your skin colour.

Try Pine Trees and A-bay as well you might be able to catch a few good breaks... If you want to surf... go over to Oahu... or Maui... at least there surf is almost guaranteed....

The best place to surf on the Big Island of Hawaii, at least on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii, is Leilei'iwe. This is the best spot, hands down. Uncrowded, yet very easy accesible. The waves break on a shallow bottom, but you get the best barrels there bro. One other thing, when the wave are pump'n you better come a stomp'n. You dig? Than you must have a shovel.

I understand what your talking about but after what the haoles did to us hawaiians there will always be some sort of recentment towards them. Haole missionaries beat surfing out of us and now you want a peace of the action. We have a diverse cultural down here consisting of many different races, Caucasian being one of them ( see even the moke can sound all professional). And recently we've been getting more and more haoles and immagrents. I honestly hate immagrents more than haoles. Just respect our culture and no theres no problem.
