Yeah ive been there a few time's, it's a totally different ball game to the Mentawais, in the Mentawais you can hang in an area and get fairly good waves in a variety of conditions.(think playgrounds, North sipora, katiet)

Telo's are different, spots are much more fickle, one day a spot on one island will be working, then the next few days it's crud...but theres probabally a spot 2 hours boat ride away....Fickle is what you would call it generally the waves in the North area are very average by Indo standards the best waves are north but need solid swells to get in

Theres 3 camps there now, so crowds are up a bit especially when swells small to med as everyone at same spot.

My advice is to time it with a solid west swell and hire a boat that way you can get the most of it, otherwise you will end up doing a lot of waiting around (theres nothing there at all) or if you have the coin stay at one of the camps, as they have fast boats and entertainment.

Sorry I meant to say the best waves are South near Marios (rights) and doewn the other side of the main Island on big west swells for lefts.....but be warned this are is super hard to get too....makes a trip out to the Mentawais seem quick and easy.

Thanks Sam.  What do you think is the best time of year to get consistent surf and offshore winds in the Telos?

Depends what you mainly want to surf...lefts or rights.

Generally rights dont need as much swell but many of the lefts need solid or very west swells.

Best bet for lefts would be june, july, August,

Rights anytime other than Nov, Dec,Jan, Feb, when swells very small.

Winds are generally a mixed bag although Nov-April does tend more W-NW favoring the rights and May-Sep tends more S-SE (lust puff from trades) favoring the lefts.

Has anyone actually visited and stayed at "Surf Village"?

If so what was it like ... good value for money?
