Good spot for beginner?« on: August 17 2006 09:08:00 »
Will be in Nicaragua in Jan/Feb 2007. Where is a good area for someone with just a small amount of surfing experience? Does anyone recommend any of the "package" deals, like Arena Caliente in San Juan del Sur, or do most cater exclusively to experienced surfers? Thanks for any advice, JC.

Why don't you just try tola? Specifically Popoyo, there are two hotels in the area, the more calm waves are uin Punta Teonoste, there are less rocks in the bottom. Good Luck

The simple answer is that it depends on the swell. If the swell is large, then there aren't many places that are ideal for beginners.
I think under normal conditions Iguana beach is a good place to go. It is a mile long beach where a beginner can practice dropping in...and taking short rides. Once you gain some skills you can try Rio Colorodo which is a river mouth with rights and lefts.
If you want some more information shoot me an email. I have a condo there and I can give you the link to my website. I don't think I can post the link on this forum for spam purposes.
