San Francisco / Half Moon Bay Surfer - Coming to Leyte/Samar« on: October 06 2006 08:10:00 »
My name is Chris...I am from San Francisco, have been surfing most of my life, and currently I surf everywhere from Ocean Beach SF, to Half Moon Bay (right around Mavs), to Santa Cruz. And once in a while I go to Hawaii to visit family!
I'm planning my second trip to the Philippines and will be coming to Leyte and Samar around March/April 2007. I'm basically looking for any surfers in the area to meet up with, hangout and paddle out with.
If there anyone who reads this and would be interested in having a penpal and a friend (who will probably be coming to the Philippines on an annual basis - as my girlfriend is originally from Leyte), then please get in touch and email me back...I hope we can paddle out and have some epic times/memories for years to come!

There's some perfect surf in Samar, when there's a typhoon. Unfortunately it can be pretty inconsistent because if there ain't no Typhoon there ain't no surf. Watch out for Pirate Pete's surf camp over there. I'd stay in a local place before I'd stay there. I visited the area about 8 years ago. It's also a good idea to see what's going on with the rebels on the island. During my time on the island a bus was bombed and 11 people were killed. Be safe and enjoy the adventure.
