Heads up on "Foreigner Prices" at surf resorts (liquid-body)« on: May 16 2008 20:05:00 »
Maybe I was wrong for letting them know I was not from there, but its still so disappointing that places try to charge whatever they can get! Its very unprofessional when businesses try and make up different rates for different people. Luckily I have been in touch with someone on GS! and found out my price for a weekend surf lesson package at liquid-body in la union was 50% MORE with an additional P1700 for my friend just to sleep in the room with me. This was the same guy dishing out the prices by the way in a span of a few days. So I guess keep your identity a secret until arrival?
its not fun when its overly money driven

That is sssoooo wrong.. surfing is a lifestyle ,people who try to rip the innocent off will get there own.. i'm sure there were probably a hundred people willing for you to tag along & learn the joy of surfing without you having to suffer at the hands of LIQUID-BODY. I was thinking of going through the PI's next year , now i will spend my hard earned cash elsewhere.. it only takes afew to spoil it for the rest.

I agree barote, any local will give you a few tips no matter what part of the globe you're in, there are so many beachs with so many cool people, it is what makes surfing cool.. typically its the people trying to make money from the sport that are the kooks.. don't give up !

Just read your post. So bad for people to do that. The Phils are having a bad enough time getting tourists to there country, its because of kooks like him that it has a bad name. I'm an Australian living here. I'm in manila often with my friend who has a business teaching and doing surf tours close to manila (3 hours. day trip. 2 surfs). Because of your bad experience, let me help make up for it by offering you a free trip (you'll be stoked). Call or txt me after the 28th may and i'll organise it for you. 09053573265. There are lots of good operators in La Union, you should of gone to Luke, who has San Juan Resort. Anyway you dont have to go that far to get waves. Give me a call and i will share the spots that are beginner friendly and very close to manila.

These guys are classic- posers. It's all about the bling, the babes, the beer, the parties and the ego. A lot of people think they're cool at first and are misled into thinking that they have true passion for surfing. They are surfers, that's for sure but in a country where surf is truly a new frontier being fast-discovered, both city folk and foreigners are up for a big disappointment. The insiders, (locals they grew up with and people they have worked with) already know the truth. People like them fall will fall away but let's not wait for more to be victimized. I think the main guy's name is Tim Goetsch. He's half-German. (kook) I googled Liquid Body. www.liquid-body.com
