beginner in siargao« on: August 17 2005 03:08:00 »
my philippine trip starts in september and i plan to go to siargao. i want to learn to surf. is there a possibility to learn surfing in siargao? i heard that the conditions are very difficult for bloody beginners.
i ve heard that the north (la union, zambales...) would be better for beginners but i am afraid, that it rains all the day (rainy season). what about your experience with the weather in september?

Dont worry about the typhoon coz most of the surf in the philippines are motivated by it. So prepare yourself for a dark cloudy and gray surfing session, a bit spooky!
Dan..dan..dan...dan...dannn..... (jaws sound effect!)
Joke lang pre!

I got an email from Patrick's on the beach at Siargao. They said that there are some beginners wave there, so there you go south is not bad at all. But I think I will have to check out Lanusa, I saw their website and it's not as intimidating. Anyway! last week in Sydney, been surfing for 3 days in a row now, called in sick on Friday just to surf, then Saturday and this morning, I went to Manly Beach, surf is up. It's been a good surfing weekend by next weekend I'll be in Philippines for a holiday. Hope to bump in to any of you, while Im there, I'll be in Zambales Crystal Beach, Lanusa Surf and Siargao. See you all!

I'll be there too, I'll be staying at Gateway at Surigao but will be catching a jetcat in the morning 6am to spend the day in siargao, I will probably base myself at Patrick's on the beach to get a boat to get to the break, we may bump into each other there. My board bag is blue with an FCS initial.
Hope you catch a good one mate, take it easy and beware of bandits!

I was just there for new year stayed at ocean 101, got lessons from a local surfer who was recommended to me by a local in surigao. there are all kinds of waves there so dont worry if your a beginner. if you get a good instructor there should be no problem.
