surfing in philippines march-april« on: February 26 2009 00:02:00 »
planning a surf trip, I am beginner/intermediate surfer and heard about phillippines as a destination...what about season and spots? any recommandation, knowing that I am not looking for heavy barels, but more for regular waves where I can practice my take off, etc...

I wrote email to the phillipne surfing academy, hope they will send ino back...I am not so keen on joining such a school though, and would rather team up with someone to travel around, or just find a nice beach here I can stay for some time and surf...so, my main ? are:
-where to go?
-when? is it totally off season in march april? then when would be better?
-is it common to buy surf board and sell it when I leave where to buy?
I know its a lot of questions...but it would really help me to make my choice ...now still in India I want to travel around south east asia, but would really like to make it into a surf trip!
so..all info are welcome!

March, April can still be good. Where do you intend to visit? The east coast is probably the best. If you flyinto Manila, you have a few options. Baler is 5+ hours north, Real 3 hours to the east, Bicol 1 hour plane ride to the south. If you fly into Cebu, you have an overnight boatride to Surigao. There are a few options from there. Look at the maps, ask people and be adventurous. You will find waves. Be polite and a little careful while down that way. If your in Manila, I can hook you up with a board. give me a call if you wish.

yah,, you can inquire in cebu pacific or phil. airline for direct flight going to siargao island airport. they have a promotion every month. I think the fare for back and forth is 2,200 to 2,500 pesos. u can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. thanks
