RE: is there any surfin club?

To Mr. Pro Surfer and Dreynolds: I don’t understand why you despise surfers who have "white" or new boards (as opposed to old yellowed fiberglass boards).

An accomplished surfer will always have (or wish they have) a minimum of 2 boards: 1 for small waves and another for big waves.  This applies to short- and long-boarders.

Surfers do not use one board all their lives.  A beginner is advised to start in a longboard for obvious reason: he will learn surfing in about 4 to 6 months as opposed to 2 years in a shortboard.  (Nothing is more pathetic than a beginner in a shortboard wobbly learning to stand up in whitewater.) After learning the basics, one can then opt to shift to shortboard or stay on the longboard.

RE: is there any surfin club?

Later, he will feel that his board is hampering his progress and will want another.  This time he would know the tail, rail, foil, rocker, etc., that he wants.  And since one cannot find the exact specification in a second hand board, then one asks a shaper to make it for him.  Or find a specific production board model of particular length.

Still later, he will probably want a looser or higher performance board.  After that, he may want a new board just to perk up his surfing.

Since you despise surfers who have “white” or new boards, you obviously have not reached a point where you feel that your old board is hampering your surfing progress.  Or you may have reached that point but can’t get a new one.  Simply put, both of you are either beginners or a sour-grape intermediates.
