hello Sam, this is Chris Marsh, I am wondering when you are going to San Sebastian because it would not be bad to  possibly have a surfing buddy once in awhile in a new country.

yeah it can get good waves all summer and the surfing beach is right in the city centre. like rest of europe really in the summer you might be lucky and get good waves or it might be very small or flat. but if there is anything san sebastian gets it.
iwas there last summer and got some great waves. i may be there again this summer as its a great city.
enjoy yourselves and good luck.

Hey Chris,
I was in San Sebastian last summer and there is a shop to hire boards on the surf beach (the beach starts with z, can't remember the name though). Its called Pukas... best off bringing your own board though as to hire is something like 40 euro for a day, I just remember it being very expensive. Will probably see you there as I am studying spanish there over the summer!

Hey Chris & Sam! I am also going to San Sebastian for the summer. I thought it would be cool to find some surfing buddies too. I will be studying at Lacunza from June 6 until July 15.

hey ppl =) i was in Biarritz last summer for 14 days - that's in france like 30min drive from san sebastian.
the surf was great, no rocks though just sand, shifting peaks, beachbrake, 1.5m. the environment is wicked and the people are real nice.
north beaches: Pais Vasco (Mundaka), Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia.
south beaches: between Portogal and Gibraltarsouth of Cadiza: Andalucia.
water temp. north: Apr(12), Jun(19), Oct(18)
water temp. south: Apr(15), Jun(20), Oct(20)
september and october are the best months to surf cause of the good waves and most important - less turists. winter's great as well.
i'm moving to san sebastian for a year in september to study there if you need anything else- don't be shy and ask =)
bye

Sorry to say guys the surf there kinda sucks!  If you wanna surf around there you would have to drive to areas outside the little point san sebastian sits on.  Your best bet like someone mentioned is to go to Biarritz or hossegor in france.  Its like an hours train ride north into france.  Its one of the most beautiful drives if you get a chance to rent a car.  The main beach in the city is in a cove which is blocked by islands on the outside(which are fun to swim too!!).  So stick to the chicks and the partying and save the surfing for a day trip up to france.  The nightlife is WOW! all  freakin night.
You can always go east along the coast of spain, but those spots are much harder to find.
The sweel starts to pick up in sept. all through the winter. Summers kinda flat.
Good luck
