the only place you could surf is on the wake of a huge boat....maybe, unless there are some killer spots that none of us know about which is impossible.

contrary to what these know nothing kooks are telling you, there are places on the north shore that get SICK but so rarely that if you were found surfing there at the time you'd likely have your face broken in several places

yeah, long island sounds suxs for surfing.  Believe me i have lived on the north shore for 20 years and ......no waves.  I've also sailed all over the place......no waves. Best bet is to go to the south shore where you chances would be much much better.

u cant surf the sound unless u surf the very eastern part of the south fork....i wouldnt consider that the sound but thats the close u can get...plus for it to work u need the swell in the ocean at least 10ft+ or else the waves there will be like 5 inches. when the ocean is firing the "sound" or north shore of the south fork can be at like 4 to 5 feet but not clean....it also depends on the swell direction....it should be coming from the south east so it can wrap around montauk point and head up to the sound.  the northern most spot where decent sets can hit is just east of lake montauk.....plus the bottom is really rocky and when i say rocky i mean boulders so if u wanna check it out go for it

well.....theres really no swell in the sound...if u c on the tv 5 ft on the sound its just the wave height and just white caps...no swell thats surfable...the farther east u go more "swell" is possible but unlikely....ive seen at jetties on the northshore near port jeff some waves come in from boat wakes and the waves seemed surfable but they were only 2 feet.  I really dont know if the swell on the ocean would affect it.. try what the person b4 me said....that isnt the sound but its as close as ur gonna get
