read all the previous topics on vanutau, and that sums it up. its a big gamble, and winds are crap this time of year, but with a boat, well, searching hard access spots could pay off......

I have surfed Pango point, and Pounders and they are great waves! If you have at least 3ft swell, on a calm day, or slight offshore breeze, you will have a ball!!!
I'll be in Vanuatu from Monday 8th Aug - Monday 15th Aug, so I'll see you out there. My friends who live on the island all surf Pango, and Pounders. They are world class waves. When you drive to the point, make sure you stop at the house on the way there and ask persission from the chief, as you have to drive through his land to access the point. Its just a courtesy thing. If you're sailing, you will find many unchartered and unnamed spots. Just take your reef booties.
Good luck!

Hey, I'm gonna be on Espiritu Santo for the month of November, anyone know how the surf is up there?  I'm just tryin to decide if I should bring my board, so I'm just wondering if anyone has surfed there before? I don't need worldclass waves, just a reason to get out for a paddle while I'm there. Cheers!

Max, you could try pango point or pango village beach. I suggest you take time out to Eretap just paddling easy waves and try Eton Beach at the eastern part of the main island, Efate. Good luck, and have a great time surfing.

I've sailed around the south islands, and I'm thinking not too many people would really enjoy a surf trip here. To the keen types out there I'll say you may be able to find some good and uncrowded waves during the north swell season. Tanna would not be much of a destination unless you wanted to experience the most primitive culture I've ever witnessed. To the guy who put the photo's up: now really, did u surf that right at the entrance of the bay? I have the same picture only I remember there being some impossible coral heads in that line-up.

If you arrive in Vanuatu with a surfboard, all the locals will fall over laughing.....there is no surf and Pango Point is a great place for sharks!!!
