No one mentioning the excellent "Sharkwater" documentary of Rob Stewart ? If you haven't seen it, you should. We are more a threat to sharks than they are for us. Anyway if we keep going this way, sharks will be memories soon. Global population of shark is slightly reducing because of us stupid humans and our money concerns. Puntarenas in CR is home to a large shark fin industry held by tawainese mafia... We should worry more about how stupid human can be than how dangerous sharks can be for a surfer.... really!

I have seen sharkwater, It states that 90% of the sharks have been killed by man. Most of the killings is for shark fin soup, fins are cut off and the rest of the shark is discarded. Elephants kill more poeple per year than sharks.

You do not have to worry about the sharks, but you should worry about human nature.

Do yourself a favor and watch sharkwater. Well you are at, it find out what happened to WTC building 7 and watch www.zeitgeistmovie.com. Then you will no what i mean when i say "you should worry about human nature."

What i hear is that shark's in CR are so smart, when swell comes (off shore wind often) to Langosta, Oliie's and Playa Negra they comes by hundreds and very very hungry, so my advice if TO AVOID THOSE PLACES IN SIMILAR CONDITION,

There was recently a crocodile attack in CR.  Has anybody seen a croc in Jaco or Tamarindo?

Jeff, you are correct there was a croc attack but it was not in Jaco. It was in Playa Hermosa south of Jaco. During the rainy season many crocs get washed out to the beach and get confused getting back to the rivers. Most of the time we simply watch them and they find their way back. But this dude was surfing and in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The guy had his leg chewed up pretty bad but from what I heard they sewed it back together and he is doing fine.

This is one messed up site, it is all over the place but kind of fun too. Check out surfinjaco.com if you want some info about this area or check out witchesrocksurfcamp.com if you want info about the Guanacaste area.
