the east coast is probably your best bet. Try a spot called Kirra or Burliegh, you can camp on the beach and there are usually only a few other freindly guys out. Real safe area too, dont worry about locking your car whilst surfing, the locals are too honest to steal from tourists. You can just put your tent up on most beaches between Sydney and Brisbane for free, and stay as long as you want.
Dont worry about West Oz mate, as previously stated, Its small, crowded, expensive and always onshore.

Why dont u go back to where you came from?
I've noticed your name popping up on this site quite regularly. Its people like you who come to Australia and follow a surf guide book around the coast, then go and tell every other tosser how you have been there, done that, and how huge it was at Margs, or how gnarly it gets and blah blah blah. Why cant you just enjoy wherever you are and keep it to yourself? Without having to big-knob yourself or our country.

Bonnie- I am a Yank-sorry- but I did vote against Bush - twice . Coming to your country on Oct. 28th. for two short weeks. Want to pay someone's way to take a surf walk about with me. would just as soon not deal with some ego infested surfer dude. You sound cool. Do you know of someone that wants to go surf for free?
