Do not go to Nosara Costa Rica if you want to surf. Tons of people in the line up. Just there for a mo and counted over 100 people in the line up almost every day.....both morning and night. If you want to surf go to some other place. If you wan to see you fellow americans go to Nosara. The project down there is called Projecto Americano it's really like staying in the USA.. if you want a little real Costa Rican culture do yourself a favor and find something off the beaten path. Nosara .....Playa guiones is totally americanized now. Bummerooski. It has been ruined by money!!!

Hey...I'm heading there on May 14th for a month. Decided I need to head somewhere for awhile in order to really learn to surf! I've been travelling my whole life but never get to just focus on surfing and I suck so I'm just pickin up and going! I've been to Mal Pais surf Camp (a couple years ago in Feb) and it's pretty stellar. Very chilled out town when I was there...not too much partyin tho...ppl mostly there for the surf. So I'm headin back there cause I know it...where I'll go from there, who knows...I'm on a solo mission as well so I just wanna find the cheapest accomodations as possible ($6/night Cabana last time I was there). I'm from Toronto as well. Anyone wanna drop me a line and meet up on the beach...I'm down. Stoked to meet fellow travellers!

I'm going to May of this year. From what i'm reading this is in between seasons for the Pacific North and Pacific Central?
How was your trip? Which area had decent waves?

Hey I just got back from a <A HREF="http://www.puramar.com/KellysSurfCamp_About_Tamarindo_Costa_Rica.html">Tamarindo Surf Camp</A and had an amazing experience. I stood up the very first day and became addicted to surf each day! I would say this experience is the one of my favorite vacations of all time. Have fun surfing!!

You decided on where you will be for end of May Surf? I am a fellow Lake Surfer who has May 20- 27 off (with flexible dates) and I am keen on Santa Teresa/ Mal Pais area.
Let me know if you are keen on trying to join up and split costs!
