If you are in Cabarete in February, go to Encuentro every morning. Cabarete beach can be good, but don't waste the time. Encuentro is a great place to surf. Friendly locals, friendly reef and if you hit a good swell, epic waves. There are at least 4 breaks there when it goes off, maybe more according to the locals.

yup there are about 8-10 breaks in that area. It all depends on the swell. stay in cabarette. there is a surf camp there.

I was just in Cabarete in January with my own sponge. I would recommend to bring your own as the rental selection at Encuentro is not the best. But the waves are good, locals are cool, and the spongers tear it up out there at Coco Pipe.
