just jumpin on the band wagon here. im staying in the same place in feb. is there a beach bar or cafe at encuentro? for $20 is it worth making a day trip out of it?

If you stay in Sosua it's best to talke a QuaQua. These are the small minivans with (Puerto Plata-Rio San Juan) on the windshield.
You will pay only 20peso to get to Encuentro. They will ask for more but.....
Make sure you get out at the Coconut Palms. There is a sign above the road or ask the guy in the QuaQua. From there it's a small walk. Walk down, take a left, right at the sign of Hooked Cabarete and you will see the road leading to the beach.
Taxi;s are expensive here and indeed you pay 20US for it.
On Encuentro is a restaurant and bar, If you arrive at the beach, it's in front of you. If you go all the way to the left you find the best breaks in front of Antonio's surfschool.
