What about staying in Sosua?
Close to the surf spots? How good is Sosua Bay?
Or is it better to stay in Cabarete?
Lots of thanks

Whatever you do, don't bother staying at Hooked Cabarete over at Encuentro.
Stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Close to the surf spot: yes.
Quicker to the surfspot: no, 10 minute drive from town and a 10 minute walk from Hooked.

Sosua has a beautiful beach, and a good reef to surf and snorkel, but it needs a big swell. Hang at Cabarete and do the treck to Encuentro or other places that are more consistent.

After seeing the ads here for Swell, I decided to check them out and I have to say it's the best surf camp I have ever stayed at: clean, social and beautifully designed at a good location.
Jim , Claire and the rest of the staff are great, you will not be disappointed!

We stayed at some surf lodge at Encuentro, and got all our stuff stolen out of our room on the 2nd night. Stay in Cabarete or Sosua, safer , easier and more fun
