Going to Punta Cana in early May and hoping to get some surfing in. Going with a group staying at Majestic Colonial. Is there surf in/around Punta Cana or do you need to get to another part of the country? I would pay for a guide/lessons if they provide transportation to/from the surf locations. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I just got back from Punta Cana. We stayed at the Excellence Resort about 20-30 min from Macao Beach. I called Rafael Ferreras with: EL MACAO SURFADVENTURES firstname.lastname@example.org 809.430.9017
He took care of me and spoke good English. He sent a driver to our resort and picked me up, hooked me up with a board and drove me back just as explained. He has a cool little surf shack with a bunch of fun boards, egg shaped and long boards available.

Don't bother there's barely a decent wave to be found, south coast in summer or cabarete area year round is a way better choice!

I will be staying at Bavaro during the last week of December. i would like to buy a board there, rather than renting or bringing mine - any suggestions where i can do that? what would you use - short boards / fun boards / or long
