Anyone else heading tehre in Feb??? Im very close to putting something together. My only concern is I see the annual rainfall high at that time?
If anyone has any good info on recently being there or going...please feel free to shoot me an email. email@example.com
Also if anyone can comment on places to stay, breaks...and also this constant question of rent a car??
Lastly, what boards did anyone find there to buy or rent?

Hi everybody, we spend some time in Montanita, it s fun place, lot of parties. We bought boards from local shapers, i paid 400 $ and my friend 350. (you can ask someone about shaper Victor) i think my is a good one, most boards here are from balsa. It s quite easy to find used shortboard. It can be wise to bring own boardbag, since it can be difficult and expensive to buy.
We didn t rent a car, busses here are cheap and they stop everywhere you want and you can have surf with you. ( there are quite a lot of spots around Montanita - Ayampe, San Jose,...)
Now we are on our way to Canoa..

I will be traveling in those parts late December early January. Will be coming from Northern Peru then I will eventually fly out of Guayaquil. At the moment I plan to be traveling solo but with traveling you never know.
Anyways I am down to throw down on a car rental/food/lodging etc...
My name is Nathan and I live in Maui. I will actually be arriving to South America in early November but want to check out some other stuff before I begin the surf portion of my trip.

Hi! I did like you, arriving to Quito. From there I took a bus to Canoa, great place, and I rented surfboards from Leo (just ask for him, he is the number one longboarder in Ecuador). 12 dollars a day. From there I took a couple of buses to Montanita. A lot of other gringos in Canoa recomended Sweet SUrf in Montanita so I went to find them and got a pretty good deal. Surf tours every day for a week and surf board included for just 210 usd!. That is just 30 usd per day getting a surfboard all day, great surf guide and go by var to awesome surf! It was me and three other girls and we had the best time ever! We got to see so much of Ecuador as well finding th best waves. We didnt stay at Sweets surf surf camp, it was too much for our budget but Mama Cucha was great too!
