to surf el salvador its better to get a guide or a tour operator company, you need a car to know all the great spots, rent a car its a good idea too, but you have to go to the city couse its tho only place where you can find car rentals.
the guide its the best idea for safety and transportation

Planing a surf trip to El Salvador?, I can give you all the tips, i have private houses, and four wheels drive cars, the best prices, to surf in El Salvador you need a guide and a car, can be a little bit daugerous if you travel alone with out information. I can make you a packages with accomodation in a private area, with air acconditioner, pool, in front of a surf spot, unlimted transportation and profesional guides just for 450 US$, you will have a kitchen and a maid to make your own food. you will feel like in you own home. for pictures and more information fer5nando@hotmail.com

Anyone traveling to El Salvador I would suggest staying in the Sunzul area north of La Libertad. It is safe and clean. Once you go there you will know what I mean. I would suggest staying Casa de Mar on the headland in Sanzul. In front of the most consistant break in the country. The owner Alfonzo an El Salvadorian is a surfer as well and knows the area very well. He can set you up with reliable people from the area. His place is beautiful. Another hotel 500 yards to the south in Sanzul is good too but not as nice but cheaper and safe. Good restraunts in the area as well. Very little need for a guide down there. Most of the good breaks are in the area.
