Fiji Rocks. Been there 2 and just love it. Staying with local people is the best ideia. Foreigner that own bussiness there are full of shhiiiyt. Fijian people are the niciest and more friendly people in the world. Frigates rocks. Great wave. But best place ever is in a far away island called....(look at a fijian map - last big island south from Vitea Levu) accessible by cargo or from passific harbour in taxi boat or local plane . I stayed in a village there with burous in the middle of trees and healing plants, 50 steps from the water. Crasy barreing right handers. 3 spots in a row + a few more going around the island.

As as beginner surfer stayed in Waidroka for five days a year ago. I asked them what would be a good spot for me and they took me to Pipe cause they didn't wanna take me to the closest and easiest spot on my own.
It wasn't big but on the first wave experienced one my worst wipeouts ever, the wave opened straps of my reef boots and my LEASH. Got my board back but the boots probably ended up in some tigershark's stomach. Later the other guys in the boat asked how long I've been surfing, and when I said "Two months" they said "You should have come here after ten years and two months." Just shows how much owners of Waidroka appreciate your safety and money (one session F$ 30).

My friend - blaming a resort for your inability to surf...the buck stops somewhere. If you have been surfing for 2 months you shouldn't go to Fiji surfing reef breaks. Stay at home next time and getting wiped out doesn't mean there are tiger sharks around...just teaches you abit about surfing. Stay home next time with your mom...

WAIDROKA BAY RESORT WAS ABSOLUTLEY GREAT!!!
I stayed there for a week and had a great time. Uncrowded waves, great food and service and the owners, Boris & Karin, where just great. The resort is great value for money and me and my friend Dan had a great time . I read through many of these forums and must say that by now I don't believe a word on these things anymore...

My point was that although I was questioning my safety they were still encouraging me to hop on.
When I was leaving Fiji, a poll girl at the airport asked me few questions of my holiday and when I said I was at Waidroka she told me many people have had bad experiences over there.
This was about a year ago and what I've read from other sites as well it seems that the owners have learned their lesson. So all the complaints haven't been in vain. Hope you keep having a good time over there.

If you are trying to promote surf resorts on this site - LEAVE! The new resort you have been referring to with the owner cooking on board and staying out at Friagets for 8 hours for 1 guy - simply is bullshit. I stayed at the same resort andf they wouldn't take me out unless we made the so called numbers. Food on board cost money and the trip was a 4 hour session . The boat took almost 1 hour and a half and they had no VHF on board! Donna the wife of the owner is an absolute bitch and I heard they cheat the villages and don't pay their dues to the various villages for surfing rights!
So there you have my side of the story...
Stop promoting surf camps on here and start talking waves!

I take it that the mutt's nuts is good? (We don't speak South African in Canada). In that case I will pass your message along re the '07 champs.

The owners of Waidroka are not pleasant folks
