RE: Blue Chip Surfboards- New England« on: May 29 2015 17:05:00 »
Vinnie's post is the only accurate one. Chip Gentner (Blue Chip) was an early hot surfer and shaper in New England. He under studied with Del Cannon and brought back ideas to his shaping room in Fairhaven Mass. Chip was a master craftsman. His shapes along with Del's and Jim Phillips were among the earliest short board innovation being ridden in New england in the late 60's and early seventies. Chip sponsored me several boards in 1970 and 1971. These included Aussie deep v bottoms as well as tri fin designs. Chip was innovative in his surfing and shaping. He resides in the area Vinnie and if you contact me(email@example.com) we can check him out when I get back to NE. I leave Hawaii next week

Vinnie..............................they're all gone...............cept the lifeguard Hank who kid's still drop in on everyone in sight! Porter, Mark Lambert...all in homes....saw Chip at Columbia Rivermouth near Astoria in 1999; he was paddling out to 15' onshore monster mush on a 5' 2" toy...............the CG warned him, but seemed was a 'Point Break' moment....ps.............the only spot left is the tow-in at Cutty Wow...............
