Yeah Andy is a jerk.Comes on all friendly but then you see that he is troppo.if you don't stay at his camp you are the enemy-weird outlook.
Anyway Nevs place is better-about 10$ for decent place to stay and meals(ther guys paying 100$ are the dums-dums on the tours).Andys place everyone is packed in dorm style like sardines.Nevs is more spread out with wood buildings that blend in and are off the ground so there is some breeze-better view of the wave too.
Don't think the place will turn into Lakeys just yet-the wave is long and pretty but not potent, pretty soft really-nothing like the barrels at lakey.

Man you should get your facts straight before you dump on the Ombak Indah surf camp.  The  Big Rock 5 don't have a website as yet.  The prices etc you quote are from Freeline Indonesian Surf Adventures, (based in Australia)
The prices at Ombak Indah are basicslly Rp150,000 per person per nite.  Dunno where you get prices of $100 per night.  Maybe you've never been there, just big talk and no facts.  Ombak Indah means beautiful wave and if you've ever spent any time there you'd know it's not a decieving name.  If you're going to give advice, good or bad, make sure you know what you're talking about.

Stu...True I have never stayed at Ombak Indah Losmen, because I try to spend my money in Indonesia at Indonesia owned losmens and warungs where possible, so hopefully this money will go to local people not line the pockets of westerners after all it is there country.

And dont give me the crap..where you say they employee so many much do they get payed a month...rrp300? its a bussines and they profit from exploting a resourse thats not theres and bringing in crowds.

None of my advice/ statements were not true or misleading Freeline surf advertise the prices for the losmen on there site as stated many people pay this price. (gila)

Freeline surf is owned by Nev who is part of the big rock five..Benar?

BTW. by Indo standards its a average wave.

Is there internet access at Ombak Indah?
Or any other places near Ujung Bocor like in Krui?

Does the place get full of surfers much?

Is it easy enough to get from krui up to where flights go to Nias?
Would like to stay in krui for a month or two then on to nias for a few months.

mas seb , your a joke , if your so concerned about giving your money only to locals , do everyone a favour and just stay home , i"m sure the local indo"s wont miss you or your pelit travel tips , best you give to your local video shop and let people who are prepared to spend some money on their holiday a crack at spreading the wealth we bring to this wave rich paradise!!!!
ask any of the staff at either camp if their job is better now than the lowly paid rice padi slogfests they used to do!!

Gaz your comments make no sence???

Why should I stay home??....most of my money goes into local Indonesians pockets.

If I stay in western owned accomadation after expenses 100% goes into western pockets and out of Indonesia.

Your argument of giving locals jobs is a fast, kind of like saying better i work at Mcdonalds than start my own fast food shop.

Im not against western owned places, but please keep it real there are many options.
