I'm a bodyboarder also living here in Dundalk. I never even considered surfing here, it just dosen't pick up swell. The north coast is the closest decent area. It can be sort of inconsistent though.....just check the forecast.

I surf mostly west but anyone heading north should check out Benone strand, loads of peaks, fairly consistant and completely uncrowded. Downhill at the East side of Benone has some seriously long rights on a good day too. enjoy !!
