so are there places to stay in Chiba? How will the surf be in late October? What kind of wetsuit? I live in Hawaii, just passing through on business, thought I'd go for a surf.

Hello Ebi....I am looking for some good places to start surfing!! I live in Tokyo and I am looking for some good places to learn to surf. Do you have any suggestions? I was at Kamisu beach not too long ago, but I didn't bring my board!! :( I am trying to take off tonight and maybe head to Hebara if the weather holds up!! You can reach me better at email@example.com

Regarding wetsuits, depends what you can handle. I see some people with 3 quarter wetsuits, too me, it's cold bro, not worth it even to get in a sess here. I live Oahu too but I'm teaching now in Japan. Since my last post, spent a lot of money renting boards in Kugenuma and Chiba. Heading to Izu this weekend to teach some Japanese friends but honestly could care less to go. Kugemuna-Kaigan is pretty much like White Plains but smaller and inconsistent, same with Chiba.

I arrived yesterday in Tokyo. I`m looking for somebody in Tokyo who could help me to find the best waves at the moment. Maybe we can meet somewhere in or around Tokyo. I have my wetsuit with me and I am looking for something like a 6.2-6.4; 18 1/2; 2 1/4 used surfboard. So if you sell one or know where to by used surfboards in Tokyo don`t hesitate to contact me by mail. I bought the Japan Rail Pass and if you have any advice where to go by train I would be very happy!
Many thanks for your help!

Good to read all this motivated crew!
I am a french dude just arrived in Tokyo for a one-and-a-half-year-job. I stay in Akasaka.
Got all my stuff ready to get wet as soon as I can!
Would be glad to go for a surf with you Ebi, after your trip to Hawai. Sounds like a great idea!
Anyway, I might have a trip next we (21-24sept) to Hebara as it sounds like one of the first place to visit, with easy accomodations... I am checking the availibility of "risingsunhebara" hotel... I'll see...
