RE: Surf in Michoacan this May, June

Hey guy from Oregon, Zihua is your best bet for you and your wife. You may find tiny little bungalow or apartment style rooms to rent which are scattered all over the small town of Zihua which is 10 times cheaper than Ixtapa's 5 star resort hotels. As far as car rentals...well I'm not too sure but I think the Zihua airport has the best agencies and depending on what you want it could cost you roughly anywhere from 90 dollars a day to 150. Yes, renting a vehicle in Mexico is not cheap!

As far as your question on surf spots well that's the reason why i loved this area mucho! You have, from south to north: loma bonita, las gatas, escolleras, playa linda, barrio viejo, troncones, la saladita, and the ranch. All of these are great spots which pick up consistent swells during the spring and summertime. If you need any more info I would be happy to help you guys out since I have a fairly good knowledge of this fabulous area.

RE: Surf in Michoacan September

How is it here in September?   I'm also looking for fellow travellers. I'm intermediate-ish... looking for fun head high surf (preferably points).     Not sure which direction I should head in- it sounds like north of Puerto Vallarta etc. has great waves but too many crowds...
