Los Cardones is a ' surf camp ' apparently set up by people who don't know much about surfing. They say it's uncrowded and it is, for a reason. The beachbreak is not good unless you are a beginner . I didn't see any surfers there when I was staying down the beach, only a group of school kids from the states doing some community outreach stuff. If you want decent waves , go somewhere else !!

I had a killer time at Los Cardones  and will go back. True enough the surf right out front is good for beginners, at least while I was there in April so I never surfed there. I could have but was saving my energy for the beach break which was going off. The point in front of the Grand Pacific a short walk up the beach was sick but the beach break further north was the place to be. The first day there was a bit of a crowd but everyday after that...for 5 days it was just us. Probably not as many spots as the South but no people...I mean nobody! Rent a car and pay $5 each a day to surf at the Grande Pacific. Food was great and the staff was way cool.

Easy to get to from Managua.  Beach break out front mainly for beginners, but can be fun chasing waves on  play board.  The point, Hemmies, 15 min walk, a hard bottom/rock slab, smoking left, but manytimes crowded.  The beach break further north is a long walk and better to drive.  Real fun break, but have to pay 5$ to get in if you drive, plus cost of the car.
Los Cordones is too expensive, 70$+ per night+.  Board rentals $20 per day - too expensive.  No electric, no fan, outhouses, bring flashlight.  Good food.  Good people, good vibe.  The new development adjacent to Los Cordones, Finca Del Mar is a cool little development, mostly undeveloped lots now, but will add to crowds when it developes. Great experience, cool place, much too expensive.
