Hey guys, just came across this site....I've surfed Nica the past two years.  I returned home this year so bummed out due to the crowds that I vowed to never return to the Rivas area.  I realized I was part of the problem.  So I won't be going back.  I'll find a new spot.  Popoyo is ruined. Aciero is ruined.  Santanas...ruined.  Other unnamed spots....ruined.  Its like surfing in Cali or FL now.  Although still better than surfin crowded Hawaii.

Go north my sons!  The waves are still uncrowded there and the vibe is so much more mellow!  I with a surf tour company in the north, and it was awesome.  The guy who runs the company will not take any more than 4 surfers at a time, and he won't show you on any map where the breaks are that you are surfing.  Of course, you can pay attention and try to get there again, but good luck...some back roads shit that we saw.  You can find the tour company for yourself, as I don't want to give away the secret to y'all.  The only reason I post here is to help the guy out that runs the company...truly a good seed!

I run "east pacific" in northern mainland mex. Broke my foot surfing a heavy left north of Mazatlan during that November swell. Now, home [dad has season tickets to the Patriots]. I'm watching F_x news, and "Paige Hopkins," sunday morning, $$$ blonde, hostess says her husband is at a surf camp in CR and she's left behind working "Studio B," which [starts the whole crew into an "on-air-blog" about the exploding popularity of surfing, eco camps and Cortez Bank... Seems he decided to fly off after renting "Billabong Ody$$ey," and "In God's Hands" - and now he's hooked. Blame our dead-tech, post modernistic, lives back home. Blame the Reef ads showing all the exotic women. Hell, Tom Curren left -- and he owned IT from Sandspit to C-Street.

Next, I saw a U-tube clip of Van Halen playing their opening number, "I'll Wait" at MSG and David Lee Roth is way out on a limb of the stage that extends about halfway to center ice - And he's still got it. In fact, everyone agrees. EVERYONE has their camera phones pointed up in his face. I was imagining Mr. Dave TV himself chuckling to himself about what a bunch of losers they all were. EVERYBODY wants in. Except Wayne Lynch, Tom Curren, Gerry... The world is united in failure, chasing the originals forever.

yes, "Stay There" the sport has exploded, but nicaragua is far from dead. I had great surf all last summer. the other people in this forum are obviously putting this up to keep people out.

hey last poster...i went to nica twice last year...love it...you can surf and have fun any where... i did think there were some crowds ...but not badly like all these people wrote..

my theory is if you get up early and stay late....you'll hit it

remember most people have a hangover on holidays....

skip the hard party nights and rip in nica...i know idid and am returning en avril.....have fun go to omotepe island even tho there is no surf....i complained when my wife dragged me there but it was a high light of out my 2 months....

getting into some mid coast beaches are hard due to access etc....

make sure to check     la boquita.....sickest a frames i saw on my trip...
