I'm travelling there at the end of the month, and was wondering how long it takes to get from Manila to Siragao? How much does the airfare cost? How are the waves right now? I know that it's still early in the season, though I have a few days off, and will be travelling from Japan and want to surf down there in the PI, and it sounds like Siragao is the best bet right now. I'm no Kelly Slater, Taylor Knox, or Mick Fanning, but I did surf Lance's Lefts last year in Indo with Bruce & Andy, 7 Palm Point with Dane Reynlolds & Clay Marzo, Thunders with Occy and Curren, and Franco's with Bethany Hamilton. Bethany was charging ... I'm no top 44 though ... never will be.

I don't know how much is the fare to get to surigao from manila, but the wave is worth spending money. you might want to stop by in some part of Leyte especially borongan and calicoan.

I saw them in competition but never surf with those talented surfers. those surfers are fearless and sometimes crazy because they don't care about the reef and how big is the wave. the bigger the wave the more they get excited.

« Reply #7 on: May 15 2007 18:05:00 »yeah mob, it's a long trip. I bought ticket from cathay airlines and the trip cost me about 1200 usd in May for the ticket. from lax to hong kong is about 16 hrs. and another 2 hrs. hong kong to cebu and from cebu, the ferries travels 1 day to surigao. 3 weeks is a long time if you plan only to surf. the ferries will stop in leyte, you might want to stay a couple of days surfing there before going to surigao.
