RE: Surf shops in Sri Lanka

none in matara, its in the middle of knowhere!!! in hikk theres the A frame surf shop, prob the most kiitted out in lanka, in A bay there is hawkeys, they have all the bits youd need, wax, fins, etc. defo bring your own boards though. not worth buying one there. just got back from A bay and it was firing. scored head highs for 8 days. no worries getting there either.

cheers. andy

Just wondering about the safety of A-bay at the mo? and any good backpacers hostels that anyone could reccommend that are pretty cheap and in good location?

RE: Surf shops in Sri Lanka

Andy: you seem to be knowledgeable.  I will be in Colombo on business early July and would like get some waves (near Galle??) on weekend before return to US.  I need to rent a board and stay near a reliable break, if there are any in early July.  Any advice welcome, particularly a local reliable contact.

If you head to Weligama. The season is just about to pop!

You can rent some good boards at Hotel GreenPeace. Speak with Lucky the owner, a  great place. Its only a 100M walk to the beach too
