there is some surf in LI sound if you know where and when and are willing to face 39 degree H20. I surfed a chest to head high wedge in waterford and there are a few other places that swell kreeeeeps into the mouth of the sound in niantic groton long point and waterford. I've also heard of but not surfed a few jetties in the sound that break when conditions are right i.e noreasters eye of hurricane etc. i've even surf a crappy wave @ the mouth of the thames river during a nor easter last week so keep exploring and charging

surfing in the sound is best in the late summer/early fall when a hurricane makes its way up the coast. when the winds are south and from 20-30 mph, then the conditions get rideable. somewhere between branford and westbrook there a barrels to be had when the winds slows for a moment

you'll get ridable surf in the sound at least 3 times a year.... we do live to surf we'd just like to be able to surf closer to home... instead of having to be on a surf team in nantucket which is 3 hours and a fairy ride away... or take an hour drive to gansett or point judith, id like to be able to surf right in my backyard... im not saying the trip isnt worth it cuz it definetly is
