The place for waves in Vietnam is between Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa, you will find point breaks and some good beach breaks. Best time is from Nov to early Feb. It can be a hit and miss but when there is some swell it is well worth the effort. I have been working as a tour leader taking bike tours up and down the cost for the past ten years and I have seen some epic days!

I'll be heading to vietnam at the end of the year for a month or so...is it quite easy to hire boards there or would you recommend taking your own! The idea of lugging my board around with me for a month though if the waves aren't great isn't appealing! What do you all recommend? love to hear back from you all...Lx

Nha Trang has killer surf from October to April. The best break is in Bai Dai (Long Beach) and there is a place called the Shack that has a ton of great boards to rent. They also do lessons. You can find more info at www.shackvietnam.com
