Hi Doris, I don't know if you will check this site again, but if you do the gentleman that posted after you had good advice. Talking to the locals is the best way to get a feel for the scene. Don't be discouraged if they vibe you, some people don't like the idea of the water getting crowded. But you will find someone who will tell you where to get a board and a wetsuit, and what winds are needed to generate rideable surf for your local area. All I can tell you is there are lots better forums out there than this one, I would tell you but I don't want this kind of bullsh!t spilling over into serious sites.
Next time you see people at the bridge just go talk to them, most people will answer your questions
