I am going to be in El Salvador and Honduras the month of June.  I would like to finish up my return trip in El Salvador (July) with a week or so of surfing.  But I am a beginner, only surfed once in Costa Rica.  Are there rentals & lessons for people like me?  I'm also a Spanish speaker traveling solita if there are people looking to for safety in numbers.  I'll translate, you can teach me to surf.

Glad to here you had a great time.  We are going on thursday for 10 days.  we are staying at don lito's for 4 days and then moving over to bob Rotherham's.  Do you know what don lito's place is like.  We couldn't get in at bobs for the entire time.

Check out Casa de Mar in Sanzul. It is safer, cleaner and the break is more consistant. The point at Punta Roca is great if it is breaking but everything else about it is sub par. The two spots are 10 minutes apart. See for yourself.

thanks john, will definitely check out sunzal.  I heard your sentiments from some friends also.  Ten minutes is so close,
is there a driver you could recommend that we could hook up with.

You have any plans for an Oct trip this year? I've been trying to find the best way to go. Like price wise and hotels. I've have two weeks vacation coming to me in Oct and i want to spend them in El Salavador surfing.

Once you get off the plane in San Salvador you can take a taxi to the beach area. Get out of La Libertad as fast as you can and head up north to the Sanzul area. Hotels are from $40-100 per night. My suggestion is Casa De Mar at the headland in Sanzul. The best wave around right in front of the hotel. The staff, owner and service is top notch but not the Four Seasons. It is luxury El Salvadorian style. See for yourself. There is a beautiful restaurant owned by the hotel that overlooks the break. Heaven! Out door showers, Pool, surfboard racks, gorgeous landscaping. Surfer's Palace!

anybody heading down in june

Hey all, I'm graduating from the naval academy this may and looking to return to el salvador.  My brother and i went down about 4 years ago and surfed punta roca and some other breaks near la libertad.  We used Punta Mango surf tours, which worked, but i wasn't too impressed.  I'm going alone this time, and looking to do it for cheaper, just a hotel and buses or maybe a car.  Is anyone else gonna be down there between june 1st and june 14th?

Going down to get some surf in and traveling solo. If you see a guy with a fish with blue lightning bolts on it. its me. I went with a guide as this is my first time to el salvador. staying at playa san diego. whats that like?

whst can I expect as far stuff to do at night? can you cab it to and from a bar or restaurants with surf flicks? not looking for a full on club, but a place to have a beer and chat with some other travelers.
