Hey, I saw your note on Global Surfers. I've been surfing for 43 years and have surfed mainly Central America, Mex and Hawaii. This is my first time to Fiji and can keep a secret.
I'm not into the surf commercial and just want to find waves. A frined of mine, Jason McNair long time resident of Costa Rica, we sufed there and discovered many breaks in 1970. found 3 point breaks in souther Costa now named backwash bay. Would love to surf 3 rights in Fiji. If you could be more specefic I would sure appreciate it. May be the only time we can surf it before we are to old, thanks JD see surfers-directory.com , look under Insurance agents that surf, yes I make a living selling insurance, but only so I can travel to places like you like!! later bro

Hey, I want to go to Fiji in December. Am I likely to pick up any decent surf at that time of the year?

WE have good waves in Dec...sometimes long streches of glassy days and pumping swells. It is also cyclone season, so those same storms that send us the blessing can also get too close and leave you with wind and rain for many days on end...always a little risk...nice and hot and muggy too...just don't dream of a white Christmas!

Well, yeah I guess December is the month!! Christmas sees a boom in tourists especially surfers. You should try Natadola beach, in Sigatoka. Or Frigates.

Just got back from a week at Waidroka Resort. I surfed and my wife went scuba diving. The weather was a bit rough due to cyclone week before, so some days couldn't surf, but not resorts fault. The diving was fantastic and when I was able to surf, good waves. Really enjoyed the resort and the meals that were prepared. They have a new swimming pool which made a big difference for us and our room had a great view of the ocean. If you understand that this is set in a rain forest environment and if you love what there is to do in the ocean, then I don't see any problem with this place. the price is right and the management and staff terrific.

Good to know, that the place is badly managed, I was thinking about going here, but will go elsewhere.

Hi, I should probably arrive in Fiji by the middle of May and feel very concerned about all you guys can say about this resort. I've heard that it's pretty much the best to get access to different spots in the area. Wrong? Can anybody give me any recent opinion about this as the last posts are quite old now. Has anybody noticed any good change from the owners? I only have one week to spend over there and do not wanna waste it because of cheap people/accomodations/informations. Any help about this would be more than welcome.
Ps: second question off-topic. Does anybody know if I can get any decent bodyboard to rent/buy around Suva? Otherwise I would have to surf (too bad... :-) )

Ha Interesting, found this thread by accident. Stayed there a while back, and indeed owners are unpleasant folks, interested in making a quick buck of surfers.
