yo puna whats the surf doing these days, poo out of the water at bowls yet cause im not to keen on surfing in shit hahahaha. we just had a huge storm, stirred up some awsome banks on the beachies today. oi when i get there we r surfing kaisers, i cant wait to surf in boardies for once hahah

I was in Hawaii in April and I agree that airlines do mess up the boards - not on purpose but they consider it lugguage and not fragile. Go Nuts along kuhio ave (a few blocks from the beach) rents longboards 30/day and shortboards 25/day. they give you a deal if you rent 2 or 3 days.

Im heading over in late Aug. Could someone please recommend somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay.

Any advice will be greatly received.

camp the county/state parks.  but nothing is cheerful when its 1-2ft and 25 out at 6am.  aloha

try Backpackers Plantation next to Waimea Bay.  Not the cleanest place but  it is cheap.  Summer is not  the time to be on the North Shore for waves, but a freak swell may show and Sunset may pick up some action.  They also have a shuttle into town, and now that I think about it, they have another Backpackers in Honolulu.  Never stayed there so I don't have any info on it.  Call Backpackers for infomation.  Aloha.

Hey I am coming in middle of july and it does not matter what island or what coast I go to I just want to find the best surfing.  Could someone please give me a general area (such as SW Big Island, S Kauai etc...) so i can find a place to stay where there will be a better chance of getting some good waves?  I have only been there in the winter, so I dont know where any summer swells are (even if small is the best it gets).  Thanks so much.
